Only in America

1. Only in America......can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance.

2. Only in America......are there handicap parking places in front of our skating rinks.

3. Only in America......do drugstores make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions, while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

4. Only in America......do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a Diet Coke.

5. Only in America......do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.

6. Only in America......do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.

7. Only in America......do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place.

8. Only in America......do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight.

9. Only in America......do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: 'Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'.

pretty crazy huh?

Have a simply wonderful day!

Love,
Brittney

Maelynn's Mocha Punch

I don't normally share recipes. . . because I don't cook, but this stuff right here is awesome! Thanks Maelynn for sharing with all of us!!!

Maelynn's Mocha Punch!

1 ½ quarts water
½ cup instant chocolate milk (powder)
½ cup sugar
¼ cup instant coffee
½ gallon vanilla ice cream
½ gallon chocolate ice cream
Cool whip

Bring water to a boil, take the water off the stove and add chocolate mix, sugar and instant coffee. Stir until dissolved. Let cool of and refrigerate over night. In a punch bowl add vanilla and chocolate ice cream (I find it mixes better when the ice cream is soft so I let it stand out for a short time. Then pour your mixture on top of that and add your cool whip and serve! =)

He he . . . .

Thought this was too cute. . . had to share!

A couple had been debating buying a vehicle for weeks.
He wanted a truck.
She wanted a fast little sports-like car so she could zip through traffic around town.
He would probably have settled on any beat up old truck, but everything she seemed to like was way out of their price range.
"Look !" she said. " I want something that goes from 0 to 200 in just a few seconds. Nothing else will do. My birthday is coming up so surprise me!"
He did just that.
For her birthday, he bought her a brand new bathroom scale.
Nobody has seen or heard from him since.

" Forever, O Lord. . . "

The Bible Lives. . . .

Generation follows generation - yet it LIVES.
Nations rise and fall– yet It LIVES.
Kings, dictators, rulers come and go– yet It LIVES.
Torn, condemned, burned– yet It LIVES.
Hated, despised, cursed– yet It LIVES.
Doubted, suspected, criticized– yet It LIVES.
Scoffed at by scorners– yet It LIVES.
Misconstrued and misstated– yet It LIVES.
Ranted and raved about– yet It LIVES.
Its inspiration denied– yet It LIVES.
Yet It LIVES– as a lamp to our feet.
Yet It LIVES– as a light to our paths.
Yet It LIVES– as the gate to Heaven.
Yet It LIVES– as a standard for childhood.
Yet It LIVES– as a guide for youth.
Yet It LIVES - an inspiration for the matured.
Yet It LIVES - comfort for the aged.
Yet it LIVES - food for the hungry.
Yet It LIVES - water for the thirsty.
Yet It LIVES - strength for the weary.
Yet It LIVES - as light for the heathen.
Yet It LIVES - as salvation for the sinner.
Yet It LIVES - as grace for the believer.
To know it is to love it.
To love it is to accept it.
To accept it means life eternal.

Change. . . .

Someone once said, "Change is the spice of life." As I think about everything that has come to pass over the course of the year 2009, I can only say that I am truly grateful.

SO. . . . . .

This year:

1. I moved back home from 2 and a half years of Bible college in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

2. I enrolled in Northwestern State University (majoring in Social Studies Ed.)

3. I got my dream job @ FHS! =)

4. I started teaching 4 piano students, which soon turned into 18 with a waiting list! Thank you
LORD! =)

5. I got my driver's license. . . . this was a BIGGIE for me!

It's been an interesting year, can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for 2010. . . . .

BUT. . . . .

for now I'll finish up this last week of work for 2009 and enjoy Christmas.

Merry Christmas,

Brittney

HOME for the Holidays

Oh, there's no place like HOME for the holidays,

'Cause no matter how far away you roam

When you pine for the sunshine of a friendly face

For the holidays, you can't beat HOME, sweet HOME

I met a man who lives in Tennessee

And he was headin' for Pennsylvania

And some homemade pumpkin pie

From Pennsylvania folks a travelin' down

To Dixie's sunny shore

From Atlantic to Pacific, gee

The traffic is terrific

Oh there's no place like HOME

For the holidays, 'cause no matter

How far away you roam

If you want to be happy in a million ways

For the holidays, you can't beat

HOME, sweet HOME!

I simply LOVE this time of the year! Christmas carols, family, presents, food, sparkling lights, it's simply magical. . . . .

May you have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS.

LOVE,
Brittney

The Difference between men and women. . . .

1. NAMES
If Laurie, Linda, Elizabeth and Barbara go out for lunch, they will call each other Laurie, Linda, Elizabeth and Barbara.
If Mark, Chris, Eric and Tom go out, they will affectionately refer to each other as Fat Boy, Godzilla, Peanut-Head and Scrappy.
2. EATING OUT

When the bill arrives, Mark, Chris, Eric and Tom will each throw in a $20 , even though it's only for $32.50. None of them will have anything smaller and none will actually admit they want change back.

When the women get their bill, out come the pocket calculators.
3. MONEY

A man will pay $2 for a $1 item he needs.

A woman will pay $1 for a $2 item that she doesn't need, but it's on sale.
4. BATHROOMS

A man has five items in his bathroom: a toothbrush, shaving cream, razor, a bar
of soap, and a towel from the Marriott.

The average number of items in the typical woman's bathroom is 337.
A man would not be able to identify most of these items.
5. ARGUMENTS

A woman has the last word in any argument.

Anything a man says after that... is the beginning of a new argument.
6.CATS

Women love cats.

Men say they love cats, but when women aren't looking, men kick cats.

7. FUTURE

A woman worries about the future until she gets a husband.

A man never worries about the future until he gets a wife.
8. SUCCESS

A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend.

A successful woman is one who can find such a man.
9. MARRIAGE

A woman marries a man expecting he will change, but he doesn't.

A man marries a woman expecting that she won't change , and she does.
10. DRESSING UP

A woman will dress up to go shopping, water the plants,
empty the garbage, answer the phone, read a book, and get the mail.

A man will dress up for weddings and funerals.

(HA HA HA)
11. NATURAL

Men wake up as good-looking as they went to bed.

Women somehow deteriorate during the night.
12. OFFSPRING

Ah, children. A woman knows all about her children. She knows about dentist appointments, best friends, favorite foods, secret fears and hopes and dreams.

A man is vaguely aware of some short people living in the house.

Ha ha!!! Have a great day everyone!!!! =)

Love,
Brittney

The One Flaw in Women

The One Flaw In Women

"By the time the Lord made woman, He was into his sixth day of working overtime. An angel appeared and said, "Why are you spending so much time on this one?" And the Lord answered, "Have you seen my spec sheet on her? She has to be completely washable, but not plastic, have over 200 movable parts, all replaceable and able to run on diet coke and leftovers, have a lap that can hold four children at one time, have a kiss that can cure anything from a scraped knee to a broken heart- and she will do everything with only two hands. " The angel was astounded at the requirements. "Only two hands!? No way! And that's just on the standard model? That's too much work for one day. Wait until tomorrow to finish." "But I won 't , " the Lord protested. "I am so close to finishing this creation that is so close to my own heart. She already heals herself when she is sick AND can work 18 hour days."
The angel moved closer and touched the woman."But you have made her so soft, Lord." "She is soft," the Lord agreed,"but I have also made her tough. You have no idea what she can endure or accomplish.""Will she be able to think?", asked the angel. The Lord replied,"Not only will she be able to think, she will be able to reason and negotiate."The angel then noticed something, and reaching out, touched the woman's cheek."Oops, it looks like you have a leak in this model.I told you that you were trying to put too much into this one.""That's not a leak,"the Lord corrected,"that's a tear!" "What's the tear for?" the angel asked. The Lord said, "The tear is her way of expressing her joy, her sorrow, her pain, her disappointment, her love, her loneliness, her grief and her pride."The angel was impressed."You are a genius, Lord. You thought of everything!! Woman is truly amazing."And she is! Women have strengths that amaze men. They bear hardships and they carry burdens, but they hold happiness, love and joy. They smile when they want to scream. They sing when they want to cry. They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous. They fight for what they believe in. They stand up to injustice. They don't take "no" for an answer when they believe there is a better solution. They go without so their family can have. They go to the doctor with a frightened friend. They love unconditionally. They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards. They are happy when they hear about a birth or a wedding.Their hearts break when a friend dies. They grieve at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left. They know that a hug and a kisscan heal a broken heart. Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors. They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you. The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning. They bring joy, hope and love. They have compassion and ideals. They give moral support to their family and friends. Women have vital things to say and everything to give HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE TINY FLAW IN WOMEN,IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH." ~ Anonymous

I found this on someone's blog and simply had to share! Dedicated to all my girl friends out there! =)

" I AM "

While praying oneday a girl asked, "Who are you Lord?"
He answered, "I am."
"But who is I am?" she said.
And He replied.. "I am LOVE, I am PEACE, I am GRACE, I am JOY, I am the WAY, the TRUTH, the LIGHT... I am the COMFORTER, I am STRENGTH, I am SAFETY, I am SHELTER, I am POWER, I am the CREATOR, I am the BEGINNING and the END, I am the MOST HIGH."
The girl with tears in her eyes.. looked toward the Heaven and said,
"Now I understand. But Lord, Who am I?"
Then God gently wiped the tears from her eyes and whispered,
"You Are MINE."

Prayer Requests

Recently in our community three precious people were diagnosed with cancer. I'll tell you a little about each one of them:

1. Mrs. Hannah Jackson:

A wife, a Mom, a Christian, a prayer warrior. She's a lady that's believing that God will heal her from her disease. He has done it once, and He can do it again. Please join me in prayer for Hannah, and pray believing that God can and will heal her.

2. Dawson Lowe:

An adorable second grader that has to spend his first days of school taking treatments for the cancer that is aggresively taking over his little body. Pray for the Lowe family and strength during this time of treatment and pray believing that God can heal him.

3. Tanner Jackson:

A 21 year old active student at Northwestern State University, in the prime of his life and loving every minute of it. Tanner is the son of Mrs. Paulia Matthews, the assistant principal of Florien High School. Please lift Tanner and the Matthews up in your prayers.

Our God is the Great Physician, the Healer, and our heavenly Father. He will get the glory in every situation. Pray that His will be done.

We will never forget. . . 09.11.2001

May we never forget, 09.11.2001.

Do you remeber where you were, what you were thinking, how you felt when the towers fell on September 11, 2001? Take a moment and relive that day, relive that moment, and remember that it is by God's grace that we are not a Muslim nation today. Thank Him for the freedom that we have been granted and for His protection every day. We certainly do not deserve it, but He gives it to us, because He loves us. The Bible says, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord."
America has drifted so far from what she was back in the day of our founding fathers, our nation was founded on the truths of God's word, yet we see her straying so far from them. The Bible also says, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and turn form their wicked ways, then will I hear form Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and HEAL THEIR LAND."

3. I started my fall semester of online classes, 12 hours. ugh. LOL

Only one life. . . .

Do you ever think about the brevity of life? Or what REALLY matters, and what will follow you behind. If today was your last day on earth . . . . how would you spend it?

All through the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) we see our Lord helping people. All sorts of people.
I've often thought, if I died today, would I have helped someone in their walk, taught someone something, am I leaving a LEGACY behind, or am I just exsisting. . . .
Our lives should really be about others, whether it be leading someone to Christ, helping in our local church, supporting a missionary, teaching someone something useful and new, writing our inspired thoughts for others to read, touching the life of a child, loving someone thats not so easy to love, praying for someone on a daily basis, giving financially, giving of our time, sharing the talents we are blessed with, the list could go on and on. . . . .
Sometimes I get so caught up in rushing back and forth to work that I forget why I'm REALLY here. . . . It's not to build up treasures for myself here on earth, but it's to show the love of Jesus to someone.
I am reminded of something my former pastor, Bro. Don Sheffield once said. He said that he'd so much rather be in heaven, but if he HAD to be here, he wanted to count. Wanted to matter. Wanted to help someone. Wanted to bring honor to His name. Life is so short, and one day, if we've trusted in Him we will be standing face to face. What will matter to us then?
Only one life so soon is past. . . . only what's done for Christ will last. . .

And let us not be weary in well-doing. . .

Do you ever get tired? I know that I do lol. Sometimes it's so hard that I don't enjoy things that I normally do; but the Bible says " Let us not be weary in well-doing." But. . . What does that mean?

We're gonna get tired. . . that's a given. . . we're HUMAN.

But don't get weary. . . . don't faint. . . don't QUIT. If you must, rest.

Rest in the Lord and keep on the firing line, keep working for him, and being an example for others to follow. You know, for some people we are the only Bible they will ever read. The way we live, how well we guard our testimony is SO important.

Sometimes it's gonna be tough. . . that's life, but we have someone in whom we can rest and someone in whom we can BELEIVE that will see us through. Someone that sticks closer than a brother, and His name is JESUS. =)

" And let us not be weary in well-doing for in due season ye shall reap if ye faint not."

Planet Flops!

Orderd THESE today from Planet Flops! They are supposed to be healthier for your feet and the most comfortable flip-flops on the market. The flip-flops are made out of sun-baked Brazilian Rubber! How cool is that? They were a little pricey, but I can wear them to work every day so it's ok. Gonna get the pink and brown ones if I like em. I'll letchall know how it goes. =)

Princess

Princess - the feminine form of prince; a female member of a royal family other than the queen; widely used as a term of endearment.

For as long as I can remember I have been fascinated with royalty, Kings, Queens, Princes, and especially Princesses =) (maybe I watched too much Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast as a kid lol)

Even as I got older, I was still enthralled with them. I loved history in school, especially studying royals and how they lived. I love fancy dresses from long ago, tiaras, long white gloves, and not having to make my bed. lol =)

What is really neat is that I AM a princess. Really! I am a daughter of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! Every girl who is a born-again child of God most high is a princess! Isn't that awesome? We are representatives of our Father in a dark and sinful world. As His daughter we should live in such a way that others will desire what we have and they can be princesses (or princes lol) as well.

Ok, so I know this was a little corny, but it's true! Just wanted everyone to feel like a princess! lol =)

Visit with the Labouves =)

Had a great time with the Labouve's! They were in for High School Graduation on the 15th of May and headed back to Alaska on the fourth.

We have had so many good times through the years and are TRULY BLESSED!!!!

Sizzling Summer!

Lovin these hot shades of fuschia, peridot, indian pink, and tanzanite for summer! They remind me of popsicles on a hot summer day =) lol

Nothing says summer like the pop of bright swarovski against smooth freshwater pearls.

Love summer, love jewelry! =)

Thanks for viewing!

Pearls

~ Pearls ~

I've always loved PEARLS . . . and as a jewelry designer I am constantly looking for new
designs that I can create. =) I also love to read, so I get a lot of inspiration from books.
I was reading in one of my books how pearls were formed and it had a wonderful spiritual
application. Pearls stand apart form other gems because of their unique creation and lustrous
beauty. They represent purity, innocence, and beauty. They captivate our attention and
fascinate us. And they are created in a very unique, wonderful way.
An irritant such as a grain of sand or other small particle enters the inside of the soft shell of a
oyster or mollusk. In order to better tolerate the irritant the oyster or mollusk coats it with a
substance called nacre. The shell keeps coating the substance until it is removed. The result is
a beautiful pearl.
It's kinda like when God sends a TRIAL or TEST in our way, we get frustrated because it
irritates us, but if we react properly, God will help us find a way to tolerate it, so one day we can
have the victory.
So, the next time you slip on your PEARL bracelet, remember that whatever your going
through is not too tough for you to handle with God's help.

Jer. 33:3 "Call unto me and I will answer thee and shew thee great and mighty things thou
knowest not."
